Sizing guide
Betula pendula, commonly known as silver birch, is a deciduous tree species native to Europe and parts of Asia. It is widely grown as an ornamental tree in gardens and parks around the world for its attractive bark, graceful form, and delicate leaves.
Silver birch trees typically grow to be medium-sized, reaching heights of 10-20mt. They have slender, white or silver-gray trunks that are marked with distinctive horizontal lines and diamond-shaped pores. The leaves of silver birch are small and triangular, and they turn bright yellow in the fall before falling off.
In addition to its ornamental value, silver birch has a number of traditional uses in medicine and industry. The bark of the tree has been used to make paper, baskets, and other woven goods, while the sap has been used to make wine and beer. The leaves and bark have also been used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments, including rheumatism, kidney stones, and bladder infections.
Silver birch is generally easy to grow and maintain, and it prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It can be propagated from seed or by taking cuttings from established trees.
