Beautiful ground cover with extra large pink showy flowers is very adept at handling heavy soils. Carpobrotus is a prostrate creeping succulent that has long trailing stems up to 2m. Giant Pigface produces large deep pink flowers in spring and autumn with purple stems. Great for rockeries, mass plantings, a sand dune stabiliser or for any low maintenance gardens in inland and coastal positions. Tolerates temperatures down to -8 degrees. Carpobrotus is a genus of succulent plants native to South Africa, commonly known as "ice plants" or "pig face" due to the appearance of their colorful and fleshy leaves. Carpobrotus species are often used in landscaping and gardening because of their low-maintenance requirements and attractive appearance. It is a creeping succulent with long, trailing stems that can grow up to 3 meters in length, and thick, succulent leaves that are up to 10 centimeters long. The flowers of Carpobrotus edulis are large and pink or magenta in color, and bloom in the summer months.
