Thyme serphyllum Creeping Pink Thyme

Thymus serpyllum ‘Creeping Pink’ is a low-growing, mat-forming herb prized for its masses of soft pink flowers and aromatic foliage. It creates a lush, evergreen groundcover ideal for sunny rockeries, garden borders, and between paving stones, releasing fragrance when walked on.

In Australia, it thrives in full sun with well-drained, slightly alkaline to neutral soil. Once established, it’s highly drought-tolerant and requires minimal maintenance. Avoid waterlogging, especially in humid regions, and trim lightly after flowering to maintain compactness and encourage rebloom.

This thyme reaches around 10cm high and spreads up to 60cm wide at maturity. It’s excellent for creating soft, flowering carpets in Mediterranean and cottage-style gardens and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Ideal companion plants include Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender), Sedum 'Autumn Joy', Achillea millefolium (yarrow), and Euphorbia myrsinites. These combine beautifully in low-water, sun-loving designs for Australian gardens.
