A native grass that forms clumps of narrow blue/grey foliage, lightening with age. Creamy flower spikes appear from mid-summer, and sit well above the foliage. Great for pots or amongst 

low shrubs, rocks or borders. Plant in full sun to part shade in moist well-drained soil. Grows 20-30cm high x 25cm wide.

Festuca glauca, commonly known as Blue Fescue, is a compact, ornamental grass prized for its fine, spiky

 foliage in striking blue-grey tones. It forms neat, rounded clumps and produces delicate, airy flower spikes in summer, adding subtle texture and colour contrast to garden beds, borders, and containers.

In Melbourne and Adelaide, Blue Fescue thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating dry conditions and light frosts. It's perfect for low-maintenance landscapes and pairs well with Mediterranean or gravel garden plants. Avoid humid, waterlogged spots, especially during cooler months, to prevent root rot.

In Sydney and Brisbane, provide good air circulation and avoid excessive humidity. Plant in slightly elevated, free-draining positions with plenty of sunlight. Although it can tolerate heat, excessive moisture and humidity can reduce its lifespan. Regular division every couple of years helps maintain its shape and vigour across all climates.
