Acacia Wattle

Wattle trees are the Australian floral emblem, and are one of our most recognizable flowers. Useful in the gardens, although many taller shrub and tree species are not long lived, and can grow past their prime within 5-6 years of planting.

New release forms of cognata Acacia have overcome the issue of over growing.  Online Plants recommends species such as Acacia limelight and Acacia dazzler as small compact shrubs in the garden.  Also the lime magik is a great screening alternative.  

Wattles like consistent summer watering during the initial years after planting.  The flowers are excellent for arrangements and drying.
