Syzygium straight and narrow is a sensational new release lilly pilly, renowned for its super dense, extremally lean/narrow growth habit. Compact and psyllid resistant. Bronze tips on green foliage and fluffy white flowers in spring. Excellent as screening for narrow positions in the garden, can be used as a topiary of statement pot planting. Straight and narrow prefers moist, well drained, reasonably fertile soil. Feed with a slow-release fertilizer in spring and trim lightly twice per year to help maintain density and shape. Can reach 8mt tall and 1.5-2mt wide.
Syzygium australe Straight and Narrow™ is a fast-growing, upright lilly pilly ideal for narrow spaces and hedging. Its dense foliage is glossy green with bronze new growth, and it produces fluffy white flowers followed by red berries. It grows up to 5–8 metres tall but remains less than 1 metre wide.
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. It is tolerant of light frosts, humidity, and drought once established, making it excellent for screening in Australian gardens.
