Syzygium australe Obelisk lilly pilly
Lilly pilly 'Obelisk' is a new form of syzygium highly recommended by onlineplants
It is a narrow form reaching 8mt tall and 1-1.5mt wide after 5-8 years. However it can be pruned down to as low as 2mt if required. Annual or bi-annual trimming will help promote a dense, bushy appearance. Even without this pruning the Syzygium Obelisk will remain tight and dense.
It has glossy, green foliage with a tinge of red in Autumn and winter. An evergreen species, it is ideal for screening or around swimming pools. It does have some red, purple berries in spring. Pysillid damage is not usually a problem for this species, however with confidor no longer available, we recommend at the first sign of bubbly foliage to prune off.
Grows best in full sun, but still does well in part shade, Will tolerate most soils, provided it has reasonable drainage. Mulch around the base to help keep barely moist.
