Dianella Tasman flax lily
A wide foliaged clump grass. Very hardy in a range of positions and soil types. Beautiful lush green colour all year. Grows to 60cm high and wide.
It forms clumps of grass-like strappy leaves It produces star shaped, lavender-blue to violet flowers which have a delicate nodding quality. The flowers are borne on branching panicles and are followed by persistent blue berries. Soil: A moderately fertile, well drained soil. It prefers a neutral to slightly acidic pH. Maintenance: No regular maintenance is required. In winter is it worth cutting the leaves back to create a round dome from which the new leaves will grow. This is easiest way to remove old leaves and give the plant shape formed by the new arching leaves.
