Hedera Helix, English Ivy
Hedera helix is a woody climbing plants or creeping vine with aerial (above ground) roots along the stems. The vines attach to the bark of trees, walls and other surfaces by a gluelike substance extruded from many small rootlike structures. It may reach as high as 20m.
Excellent plant for thick dense wall covering. The roots attached to brick work and timber and draw sustenance from the surface.
It is generally a hairless plant however younger parts may have some hairs. Can be grown in poor soil quality and without regular watering. Frost and drought tolerant.
